They realized that this cocky little Irish boy from London had blagged his way into this job at the ripe old age of nineteen and didn’t know what he was doing. I landed on a Saturday, partied with the guys on a Saturday, partied with them on Sunday, went to orientation on Monday and I was fired on Tuesday. I managed somehow to talk my way into getting an internship as they exported 200 people from England over to Hong Kong with a bank. Friends of mine in the ‘80s were getting into the banking, insurance and all this stuff. My whole family was in the construction industry, including my mom. I was a bricklayer from outside of London.
